Three Dubai operators publish a follow-up at 14 days, one of them explaining in its own words that the second visit is booked for then because the eggs of bed bugs would have hatched. Fourteen days sits inside Purdue's window and safely past Virginia Tech's day-nine hatch mark.
What temperature kills bed bugs, and why does the number matter?
Virginia Tech gives two thermal death points, not one: 118 degrees Fahrenheit for bed bug adults and nymphs, and 122 degrees for the eggs. Four degrees separate killing the bugs you can see from killing the generation you cannot.

Three weeks of nothing. Minnesota Extension sets the test as follows: if you have had a professional treatment and three weeks have passed since the end of the treatment with no signs of continuing infestation, the infestation has likely been controlled.
Three weeks is chosen to sit past the hatch. Counting from the end of the treatment rather than from the first visit is what makes it a real test, and it is the reason a Dubai company that calls the job closed on the day it sprays is closing it before any evidence exists.
